To be honest, the better part of 2022 had me in a reading funk. These are some of the delightful reads that pulled me out of it and made me a bonafide bookworm again, just in time for summer. As always, each book title is linked for you!
Book Lovers by Emily Henry:
A fun and witty romance reminiscent of the Hallmark trope of big city girl meets small-town life. It has a Stars Hollow feel that I’m all about. As always, Emily Henry woos us with well-developed characters and a romance with just the right amount of steam.
Gallant by VE Schwab:
This YA fantasy read is dark, twisty, and full of V.E. Schwab’s poetic writing and one-of-a-kind descriptions. She’s always a master at taking readers into worlds they’ve never been to before.
Four Treasures of the Sky by Jenny Tinghui Zhang:
A debut novel about a girl who is kidnapped from China and brought to the United States. This beautiful (and sad) book weaves together Chinese folklore and history into an engaging (and beautifully tragic) read.
Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid:
This book is about a fictional rock band in the 70s that feels absolutely real. The full-cast audio is a must! It feels a little like Walk The Line and A Star Is Born and minus the intense tragedy.
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune:
Believe it or not, I rarely let anything keep me up past my bedtime, including books. I made an exception for this one. A story of a couple who grows up together near a lake in Canada and told over six summers and one weekend, it’s the perfect summer romance read.
